Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Warriors Party

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a diverse cast of personalities, and a thrilling plot including celestial beings, demons, and sinister influences expanding in power within Dol-Makjar.

Heads-up: Key plot points for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Soldiers Table Introduced

The latest chapter concluded with a huge suspense moment and introduced the first table of adventurers who will split off from the main group to undertake their independent quest, apart from the remaining groups.

The combat-focused team features Teor (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).

Why Split the Party?

Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the outset that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unworkable.

That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Strategists, and Questers.

Characteristics of the Warrior Group

Per the DM, the warrior group is for participants who prefer a typically action-packed battle-oriented narrative style where peaceful solutions are rare.

At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might look unsuited, but the events of the third episode demonstrate why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Motivations for Departure

First, the team understands precisely where to proceed after a violent initial meeting with the antagonists.

Casimir of Thjazi—whose passing started the story’s plot—manipulated the foes for his own means, breaking into the secret base, striking the character, and stealing all the magical artifacts to auction.

The traitor then paid off his obligations and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, north of the city, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.

Individual Reasons

Additionally, each character has a individual motive to leave the city the urban setting:

  • Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, seeks retribution.
  • The knowledgeable figure has experience in the northern area and cautions that it is a hostile place.
  • The strong character and Wicander, having defied his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
  • However, their position as prominent individuals in the influential clan could enable the group access places they usually can’t.
  • Furthermore, The fighter pledged a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now follow him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are sought by the rulers that govern the setting for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and The healer defied the influential house and the legion of demons they are allied with.
  • The target is wanted dead by the family.

This means them no alternative but to journey toward the northern region in quest for the antagonist.

Future Episodes

Based on the latest episode’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table will not appear the following episode, leaving the rest of the participants to assemble the Seekers and Planners groups.

Audiences can anticipate finding out which players will be where in the story’s last Overture episode, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
