19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard courts

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his maiden title for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has experienced a challenging year, winning just one win at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.

His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in specific - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with long-term trainer his previous coach.

Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's initial trophy since the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface since spring of that year.

The win also signifies Medvedev has secured 21 championships at 21 various tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters together, so to get a title is particularly special," said world number 14 the champion.

"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I won when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his last six finals, featuring in that event earlier this year.

Medvedev's counter-punching approach and regular outbursts on the playing surface had led some to doubt if his capacity to perform at the elite level was over.

However the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and play aggressively, supported by an improved serve.

The champion came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, winning 4 of the concluding five points to go ahead.

The competitors traded breaks in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his first tour victory, seized the initiative to force a decider.

He rescued 4 early-game break points in a close third set before the champion broke to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, he earned the win with a rally at the net, with his opponent unable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
